ABI/INFORM Collection 

The most comprehensive business database on the market today and features thousands of peer-reviewed journal articles, dissertations, and research in business and economics. 
Business Source Ultimate Provides access to information in business and management. This database provides full-text access to scholarly, popular and trade journals,  financial data, books, videos, company profiles, SWOT analyses, industry profiles, country reports, market research reports, and case studies.
Signal49 ResearchContains over 4000 Canadian research documents in areas such as economics, market forecasting, city statistics, innovation, leadership, public policy, risk management, Canadian Help Wanted Index, and tourism.

Canada

  • CANSIM: Canada's official socio-economic database from Statistics Canada.  Primarily focussed on domestic statistics, but some comparative statistics are available. Topics include business performance & ownership, Canadian business, domestic trade, economic accounts, international trade, and prices & price indexes.  Also has statistics on specific industries such as construction, housing, tourism and agriculture.
  • The Bank of Canada: up to 10 years worth of exchange rates, interest rates, treasury bills and Canadian bonds.  Also has key indicators - including inflation, monetary policies and banking statistics -  the consumer price index,  the commodity price index and official international reserves.
  • Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada: Financial performance data by industry.  Reports can be customized to include a specific businesses' own income statement and balance sheet information.
  • Canada's Open Government Portal: Financial performance datasets in a variety of file types - most commonly .csv, with html, xml, pdf, doc and zip files also occasionally available.
  • SEDAR: The official site that provides access to most public securities documents and information filed by issuers in all the provinces and territories of Canada.  You can find and retrieve issuer profiles and SEDAR public securities filings and information from the SEDAR filing system, together with the latest news about SEDAR.

International

  • US Bureau of Economic Analysis: Provides economic statistics and reports on a regional, national, international and by-industry basis. Finance information is focused on analyses of the finance industry and Federal Reserve financial accounts.
  • US Census Bureau: Provides data and statistics on State Government Finances as well as demographics, income, poverty, economics/economic indicators and international trade.
  • EDGAR: The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) provides filing, registration statements, interim financial statements and annual reports on all public North American companies and mutual funds. Use the quick tutorial link on their home page to make the most of your search.
  • U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission(SEC): It's mission is to protect investors, maintain fair, orderly and efficient markets and facilitate capital formation.
  • US Federal Reserve Board:  Data Releases: This site provides a wide array of statistics, including bank assets and liabilities, bank structure data, bank finance, household finance, financial accounts, exchange rates and much much more.
  • The UK Office for National Statistics: Produces and disseminates official UK statistics - particularly economic, demographic and social statistics and conducts the Census.  The homepage has quick links to business, industry & trade statistics as well as economic and labour data.

IGOs/NGOs/ThinkTanks

  • OECD iLibrary: The OECD is primarily focussed on highly industrialized countries, and as such the most of the resources in the iLibrary and other OECD sources are limited to those countries. Also has financial statistics, e-books, papers, statistics and the gateway to OECD’s analysis and data.
  • The World Bank: Focuses on low and middle-income countries and the majority of its high-quality data and statistics are limited to the countries in its area of interest. Has  Financial Sector data for the countries in its area of interest as well as for the World Bank organization itself.
  • IMF Data: The IMF aims to foster global monetary cooperation, financial stability, international trade and reduce poverty around the world.  The IMF Data portal provides access to a vast array of research papers, eBooks, economic outlooks, policy papers and more, plus free access to its macroeconomic and financial data.
